Collection 2000 blue eye shadow, Lancome Juicy Tubes, clear eyebrow gel, blue hair mascara, St Tropez Bronzer, Johnson's baby oil and glitter ; Welcome to our make up bag circa 2002. In our hands, grim stuff. In Theresa Davies’, well, a different thing all together.
Theresa packed in studying Fashion Illustration at college after becoming frustrated that she had to make the clothes not just design them. Obsessed with mixed media and biro drawings, Theresa decided to pass up fashion all together and went on to study Fine Art, where she quickly discovered a passion for drawing faces. A woman with a penchant for colourful Louis bags and an obsession with gold (we’re talking sovereigns, big gold rope hoops, basically any gold she can lay her hands on) and who enjoys nothing better than ‘a whole night of garage’ meant we had to get Theresa’s number. In all seriousness though, Theresa is undeniably talented, as one butchers at her portfolio proves. Theresa’s distinctive noughties beauty styling is undeniably retrospective but the attitude remains distinctively ‘now’; triple laced french braids, fly-away baby hair, chola lip-liner, fake freckles and fresher than fresh skin. Naturally we asked the girl what her ultimate beauty tips were… ‘Avene Gel Cleanser, a must for fresh glowing skin. Keep things simple with one simple statement, there's no need to pile it on if you don't need it! Accentuate don't mask!’ Thank Theresa later.
Theresa has worked with the likes of Hunger Magazine, ID, Adidas, Saucony, TANK, Wonderland, Vice and Misbhv, on major fashion campaigns and editorials. She’s also beautified emerging musical talent on behalf of MTV for a portraiture session. Having recently worked with Moffy, one of our favourite emerging models of the moment, the two have created visuals so strong you carry them around for days- in fact that’s what Theresa loves about her job. ‘I fell in love with how disposable it is, you do something you love then just wash it off’ says Theresa, ‘but the images will last forever.’
