The first day we launched BabyFace we received an email from Marika Ames. Damn, this girl is on it. Why had she got in contact? Because she was launching, the now launched, Jars NYC and was keen to feature BabyFace for a London based series of interviews. Marika is one fourth of Jars, a hot new hot spot for all things Manhattan related that aims to shed light on all things ‘downtown’ happening before they reach the mainstream media. Kudos. After meeting Marika for a quick coffee we knew we had to get the lady a profile. So utterly in tune with the BabyFace wave length and making moves of her own, we knew we’d met someone special.

Before Jars (BJ, if you will) Marika was, and still is currently a freelance stylist. Working from NYC but a Londoner originally her styling work is a fruity mix of Uk street wear meets Big Apple slick. Take her Twinning is Winning editorial for Vice- Grass green Tommy Hilfiger windbreakers meets Nasir baseball caps- a true NYLON marriage of brands. Marika has also assisted shit hot stylists like Avigail and Damian Collins of Silver Spoon Attire and Renelou Pandora (stylist to Yeezus himself- amen) and Ludivine Poiblanc. Some of Marika's proudest work moments to date include assisting on shoots with the likes of iconic photographers such as Mert & Marcus, Steven Meisel (Yes - the Madonna sex book!) and Steven Klein. Go gurl!

We’d recommend keeping your beady eyes on Jars, not least because BabyFace was featured last week- but because the content is super strong and the profiles really are catching burgeoning creative talent across the pond before they hit it big. Did we mention by any chance that Marika is 21? You can go lie down now.
