As we do, BabyFace was out on the razz one Tuesday evening when we spotted a cute boy. By the end of the evening we’d decided that it wasn’t the boy that was cute, it was in fact his peachy COPSON jacket. Enter, our next BabyFace girl, Maria Falbo who's been tricking us into inadvertently fancying boys in Bardens for several months now. Maria is a Designer, Pro Skateboarder, Founder of COPSON, and Creative Consultant. Maria oversees all things COPSON from the look and feel of the website, down to the garment design and construction itself. The thing with Copson is that, much like Maria, it’s simple, relaxed and chic. Back when we were sat on our butts, drinking Sunny D and button bashing out hand plants on Tony Hawk, Maria was religiously skating at a newly built park in her hometown of Dorset. It was where everyone hung out after school, and Maria would go each day, practice and learn new tricks and luckily enough, Maria’s enthusiasm was matched by her talent (she competes competitively). Google Maria and an expansive archive of skate videos will great you.
Maria also works as a consultant on similar projects to Copson such as Stance Socks, so, do your mum a favour this Christmas and tell her to cool off on the trainer socks and invest in some Stance cotton (or, buy your own socks, you toad) . Maria’s next big-idea is The Poolhouse Agency (soon come) which she’s formed with Lydia Garnett and Natalie Davies, that will function loosely as a brand consultancy and communications channel. In an effort to resist labelling The Poolhouse Maria told us, she’ll see how it goes and ‘probably open a pasta restaurant or something’. They've already shot a look book for adidas....make your pasta restaurant reservations now, people.
