It’s difficult to cram everything Fred does in a sentence, so we won’t. Fred is a Brighton University graduate and now primarily an Accessories Designer. Fred is also an avid blogger; creative consultant; Run Dem Crew member; Boiler Room Ladies’ Football club member and DJ. Part of Fred's charm stems from her gentle manner and softly-spoken disposition which seems at odds with someone so flamboyantly dressed, but then that's just what Fred is- surprising, and it's a freshness that marks all her projects. Who said fashun was all monochrome babes?

Like all true creatives Fred didn’t take the well-trodden path eschewing college and heading straight for art school; she quickly progressed from Set Designer’s apprentice to owning her own studio space and launching a collection that was on the LFW schedule. Ok, ok it wasn’t that smooth running. Interning can be an assault course of abuse and mishaps: Fred recalls being cussed out by an idol of hers at Paris Fashion Week (a singer who shall remain unnamed) who told her to ‘get rid of them boots’ (she was wearing Buffalos), or the time she had to ask a supermodel for Tampax so impossible was it for her to leave the shoot, or, the time a Fashion Editor asked her to star in a "Camden Cyber Goth" because of her Buffalos (there’s a lesson in there somewhere?).

Fred’s unique style and inimitable stamp have bought her her well-deserved reputation as a taste-maker and trend-setter. Her super-surreal works (everything from sets to headbands and jewellery) are characterised by the overarching themes of architecture, sculpture and pattern all finished with a psychedelic-kitsch touch. Fred has designed hats for Lady Gaga, customised trainers for Adidas x Stella McCartney live onsite at the Olympics and designed her own Swatch watch (a childhood fantasy of Fred’s).

Whilst much of Fred’s life is spent in the studio working, a large part of her life is given over to running…In fact Fred is in training for the London Marathon (eek) and is fundraising for The Music Circle who seek to protect women and children in the Democratic Republic of The Congo. Oh, and if that isn’t enough, Fred is currently writing a book due out next spring. We die.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHAT YOU DO:I am an accessories designer but I also write a blog which has opened the door to lots of weird and wonderful, abstract thingsWHEN ARE YOU HAPPIEST?When the sun is shining. When I’ve had that Eureka moment in trying to make something and it’s an inexplicable surprise. When I can have one-to-one time with my best friends. When I’m at my mum and dad’s house and one of my tiny nephew’s pops in for a chat because they live next door. When I’m on the back of a scooter with my Dad like I was on the back of his bike when I was a kid. When I’m on an epic bike ride with BikeDemCrew. When I’m running with RunDemCrew. When I’m blissed out in Shavasana at yoga. When I’m blissed out in bed having a lie-in and the rainbow-maker is spinning spectrums in my room.FAVOURITE PLACE TO EAT/SHOP/HANG OUT?Hampstead Heath Ladies Swimming Pond. I’m constantly preoccupied by the wish to see the world except for when I’m swimming here. It’s like my own private oasis because I go on my own and people don’t know I go. I cycle there very early morning or last thing at night just before it closes so it’s empty. There are beautiful flowers in the long grass and green Parakeets (and a Kingfisher too if your’e lucky) in the trees. There’s nowhere else quite like it. It’s a total London institution and I love seeing the older ladies in their sparkly turbans and listening in to their small –talk. It’s the essence of Summer for me and a very sad day in September when it’s too cold and I have to throw the towel in* (* Love a pun, sorry)WHAT’S YOUR BEST ADVICE?Don’t have any ego so you can be open to everything and everyone that you encounter. We are all human so never be scared to talk to a stranger or too humble to help. Treat others as you would wish to be treated yourself. Motivate your actions for love, even if it’s the smallest selling point that you can see. The energy that you project is what gets reflected back, so carry positivity and the world will shine back. Inspire just one soul and they will roll it out to many more. If every individual takes responsibility for themselves and chooses to be accepting to everyone else, we would be half way to peace. Peace out!WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO?Make the absolute most of every day because life is too short not to explore every moment.WHAT WORDS OR PHRASES DO YOU MOST OVERUSE?Lush, Cosmic, Magic BEST PARTY YOU'VE EVER BEEN TO?Most definitely the best night of my life was the Young Turks New Year’s Eve party this year in Tulum. I’ve never been anywhere that exotic before and I’ve always desperately wanted to go to Mexico. I managed to tick off a life dream and magically spend it with so many friends who were all able to be in the same place at the same time. I think the Mayans settled there because of a cosmic alliance of stars and I felt that energy. The stage was on the beach, the music wafted along the shore in the wind and the palm trees waved as the starry sky suddenly popped up the Sun and everyone magnetically stopped dancing and waded into the sea to swim whilst Koreless played “Sun”. Whenever I hear it now it sends a shiver down my spine and transports me right back there.SONG TO BE PLAYING AS YOU ENTER THE CLUB?”Lonnie Liston Smith – Expansions” for nostalgia or “Cos-Ber-Zam-Ne-Noya (Daphni Mix)” for nowWHAT THREE THINGS WOULD BE ON YOUR RIDER?Davidoff Gold cigarettes, my dad’s G&T, Mango Rubicon AND FINALLY...WHO IS YOUR NEXT BABYFACE GIRL SUGGESTION?Who: Rosy Nicholas
Why: Because she’s Lush, Cosmic and Magic
