Cosima 23 London

We first came across Cosima when we heard her inimitable, contralto voice, on Lil Silva's Caught Up and we've been hooked on her richer than gravy voice ever since. Peckham’s most electric new set of pipes. The 23 year old is a South London native who’ll have you asking your mum to dig out her Sade CDs. At 12 years old Cosima’s friend lent her a Judy Garland CD, and it was Judy’s cover of Dear Mr Gable that meant love at first sound. Although, it wasn’t until she was 19 that Cosima started to seriously consider a career as a recording artist.

After dabbling with a career as a stylist (she has a Vivienne Westwood red corset that’s her signature piece) she decided to get focused and put her money where her mouth is by moving to her Grandma’s home in Germany, where she took classical singing lessons. Fast forward four years and Cosima is directing and staring in her own music videos; for her single Had To Feel Something it was a case of reaching for the nearest cam corder and inviting all her mates to come and hang around her place. Simple. Girls Who Get Ready, involved Cosima inviting all her best girlfriends round, got them to style themselves and of course got hold of a goat and pig. Naturally.

While we get the sense there’ll be no shifting Cosima’s feet firmly off the ground where they’re placed she’s already the subject of much heat on muso platforms, Annie Mac’s a fan and her recently released track Hymns For Him, all about someone not doing right by their girl, and is an ear worm of the highest order. Follow her Soundcloud immediately, and bid welcome to Cosima, the latest addition to the crew.
