Both 25 and both hailing from London Town, Bertie Brandes and Charlotte Roberts are veritable fashion-peas encased in a shimmery Prada-kind-of- green pod; Bertie is the Contributing Features Editor at i-D and Charlotte is a freelance stylist and consultant and original WAH Nails seraph and together they are the co-founders and Editors at Large of girl power zine,The Mushpit.

Bertie has become somewhat of a mouthpiece for Generation X/Y whatever you want to call us post '85, pre '92, millennial (eugh) babies, and is author of some of our favourite lunch-time reads (Iron Bru in hand) such as her Guardian musings; 'Lucky or damned? For my generation it's a bit of both' and 'Would I go down a drain for my iPhone?'. We're always sure to pick up a copy of i-D and happily shared the shit out of Bertie's thought provoking 'in the mood for nude' which dissected our society's current infatuation with Photoshop. Char's work as a stylist and casting-director is just as prolific and makes up a large part of the screen-shots in our photo-gallery. From Nike, to Claire Barrow, Christian Cowan-Sanluis, ASOS, Garage Magazine and JuJu footwear, Char's worked with the biggest and bestest of them out there.

We first thumbed an all ready well-thumbed copy of The Mushpit as we sat foils-in at Dalston's Bleach hairdressers. Ok, look, first all all the cover was a sheepish looking Kevin Federline adjusting the garter of a less-sheepish looking, stripper-heel-clad Britney Spears at their timeless 2004 LA wedding ceremony, so we were going to pick it up. Then we opened it up; from essential think-pieces like 'Lies You Tell At The Sex Clinic' to '10 Reasons You Don't Want To Work In Fashion' via must-reads like 'Kissing Like A King' we knew we'd found a tome for our heady and mysterious times. The latest issue, Musphit #6, 'the confusion issue' features BabyFacer, Grace Pickering shot Tyrone Lebon, as the super-babeing cover girl and the launch party looked a hella fun with the girls swapping Marques'Almeida dresses half way through. We're totally set on collecting all the issues and showcasing them in a downlight glass cabinet next to our Sylvanian family collections and other important paraphernalia in what will become our inevitably become our nostalgic shrine to all things two-thousand-and-teens and our wrinkle-free-twenties in London.

Both the girls come together on styling projects too; working through the night on Ryan Lo presentations (did y'all see SS15?) and most recently on a cute Marques'Almeida-laden Baby G shoot. They also have a shared column on, namely, 'miss manners never lies' that you're welcome to think of a an internet-finishing-school that'll shed a light on all things Ps and Qs and ensure you never step a satin-ed foot out of place. Phew! You can also find the pair frequently propping up the bar at one of our favourite watering holes on the strip, The Alibi, where they host their infamous Mushpit nights which invariably end with everyone dancing around to J-LO. Issue #7 is on the tropical-sunset horizon and the girls have promised us that it'll blow issue #6 right outta your martini glass (well sort of, issue 6 was pretty super). We can't wait. See you in the pit, guys.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHAT YOU DO:We run The Mushpit which is the best magazine ever even if we do say so ourselves. HOW WOULD YOUR FRIENDS DESCRIBE YOU IN A SENTENCE?It depends what mood they’re in but probably a bit neurotic, very excitable and prone to saying “lol” out loud way more than is acceptable. WHEN ARE YOU HAPPIEST?Making Mushpit! Putting pages together and coming up with stupid ideas that turn out to be brilliant is the most fun ever. Also experimenting with indesign to see who can make the most jarring layouts. Also dancing to John Montoya’s set at the end of a really good Mush party is probably one of the best feelings in the world. FAVOURITE PLACE TO EAT/SHOP/HANG OUT?Deano Jo’s new bar Pamela even though it’s not technically open yet, it doesn’t need to exist for us to know it will be amazing. Also WAH nails for glamming and the Know Wave studio because there’s a very high ratio of sexy boys on rotation in there. WHAT’S YOUR BEST ADVICE?Trust yourself, accept your feelings and channel energy into positive stuff… God how very post-meditation Lindsay Lohan of us. WHAT IS YOUR MOTTO?Be better not bitter. Or just be bitter for a bit and then stop looking at instagram and comparing yourself to other people! Both work.WHAT WORDS OR PHRASES DO YOU MOST OVERUSE?Probably just squeal noise tbh. Oh and tbh. BEST PARTY YOU'VE EVER BEEN TO?Our Mushpit 6 launch at Rita’s was super good, we wore matching Marques Almedia silk dresses (swapped halfway through the night natch) got really drunk on “mush slushies” and posed in front of a mushpit sign made by our besty Dora Miller. SONG TO BE PLAYING AS YOU ENTER THE CLUB?Britney – I’m not a girl not yet a woman Bertie: Anything by Gyptian.WHAT THREE THINGS WOULD BE ON YOUR RIDER?Bacardi, pizza and perfume. BIGGEST LIE YOU WERE TOLD/THAT YOU TOLD AS A KID?That the 80’s was the worst-dressed decade.. Um. No.WHAT'S NEXT?Mushpit 7 which is hopefully* going to be even more amazing than Mushpit 6. *definitely AND FINALLY...WHO IS YOUR NEXT BABYFACE GIRL SUGGESTION?Who: Jessica Taylor
Why: She’s a Queen and beauty editor of Mush and we love her to bits.
